Book reviews:

4/05/03

On sale this week in all local bookstores is a great new book. In the section of Alternate Lifestyle is a new book out about channeling the inner power of the Mythical Pyramid. The book titled "The Path of Blood: A Warlock's Guide to Unlocking the power of the Pyramid" sounds like some Pagan blood worshiping cult book at first glance but after you get into it you feel taken in by the mind set that you are apart of something larger. The Pyramid itself is a support system that allows for each member to support each other and help each other learn. The history of the Warlocks dates back to Eastern Europe sometime in the 1100's where they gave up some more widely accepted belief for this new Pyramid.

It's a must have book for those in looking for that new lift of new age enlightenment.

REVIEW UPDATE (4/26/03): It appears that this book is so popular that it has sold out every copy of its first two local printings some 2,500 books.

REVIEW UPDATE (5/12/03): Local publishing company starts reprinting its most popular book ever. With a infusion of Capital into the small business they have enough money to reprint this wildly popular book. Find it in any local book store now.

Superstition

It would appear that old wives tales are on the raise again. In a recent survey of local Santa Rosa town folk we found that more than 75% of them believe in some type of superstition.

When asked to complete this sentence “Step on a crack break..” they replied with “your Mothers back.” Or the other classic of “Find a penny, pick it up, all day long you’ll have good luck.”

These along with seven years of bad luck for breaking a mirror or a black cat crossing your path seem to have a firm hold on people. The age of science has tried to push these superstitions under the rug but as humans are creatures of habit they appear too willing to continue to believe.

The belief that luck can be held within an object and carried with you seems to also continue. Examples being the Lucky Rabbit’s foot, the Four Leaf Clover, or the for mentioned Penny. Adding to this collection is a Sacramento based company Chival & Blackwood Inc. have a new toy on the market. “Pavis of Presence: By using ancient techniques these blue ribbons will give you the confidence you need to get through your day.” Will something new claiming to be something old work with this generation? Well at lest it’s blue so the superstitious bride can wear it.
