After the media frenzy concerning the Luxor casino that occurred during the day, the Luxor was packed to the brim with curious locals, tourists, and hardcore gamblers alike. The overworked hotel security called in assistance from the LVPD at 10PM to help secure the crowds, but despite their efforts several dozen heavily armed gang members managed to sneak into the Luxor sometime around midnight.

At 12:30AM, apparently at the discovery and goading of these gang members, the crowds within the Luxor began to riot. In an uncontrolled panic, the crowds began to rush towards all exits from the casino, overwhelming the combined security forces. Order was restored thirty minutes later, and 18 individuals were rushed to Sunrise hospital, several in critical condition.

The security forces were unable to detain any of the gang members involved, and the motivation behind the incident is still undergoing investigation. Casino officials have commented that no major robbery occurred, and the casino was able to reopen after the LVPD completed their onsite investigation at noon on Sunday.

Rock Star Jason Asio, lead singer of Shattered Realities; died this evening at roughly 7pm EST on Saturday August 17 2002. Jason Asio died as a result of an explosion of the pyrotechnics that were to be used in their show. He had been setting up and doing last minute fine-tuning of the upcoming opening show of their latest tour. No one else was hurt as the stadium was empty at the time of the occurrence. It is unknown at this time why he was in their adjusting the pyrotechnics alone that caused the fire. FBI agents had been in the area for undisclosed reasons, but aided local police in determining the causes of the fire and death. The other members of Shattered Realities have been unreachable for comment. The spokesmen of their record company has indicated that the tour will be temporarily postponed to give the members time to grieve over the loss and determine what will happen from this point. A memorial is being assembled by fellow musicians and his band mates at his home in Fredericksburg, VA. The house is being kept closed by his band mates, however the land itself will be opened for fans and well-wishers to come to what has been the source of a lot of the bands musical inspiration. A spokesman for the Fredericksburg City Police Dept advised that the body was unfortunately damaged into such a condition that there was no chance of an open casket funeral.

Alien Hackers

On or about the evening of August 17, 2002 the SETI program became the prey of Hackers. The SETI, Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence, project that has fallen are hard times in the past decade, fell victim to a minor hoax. It appears dueling computer hackers took the project to task and made over a thousand home computers believe they were finding messages from aliens. Although it turned out to be all a prank done to see which of the two hackers were better at being a felon.

SETI, had no comment on the specific incident other than to say they are taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
