FREAK WEATHER HITS TOP END

We are receiving reports now that a massive storm

front has materialized out of nowhere north of Darwin (Australia). The storm system is heading south, and will hit the Darwin area sometime in the next 10 minutes. Emergency services personnel have been warned to take cover as the wind speed within the storm has increased to over 100 km per hour. It is believed that the nuclear explosions have created freak weather patterns which will cause large amounts of damage all across the region.

The Australian Emergency Response Centre has issued flood warnings for the entire Northern Territory and Cape York regions. "The proximity of the detonations to the ocean almost guarantees an enormous amount of water vapour. This new storm system will push that back into the northern regions of Australia. We could see one of the worst flood in Australian history within the next 24 hours."

VFT DERAILMENT, 109 KILLED

The Very Fast Train, en route to Sydney from Canberra, has suffered a massive mechanical failure and crashed in a tunnel near Central Station. 91 passangers were killed in the resulting explosion, as was a work crew of 10 who were performing track repair in the adjacent tunnel. Another 8 emergency personnel have so far lost their lives trying to rescue people trapped on underground commuter stations along the line. More news as it comes to hand...

TERROR ALERT:

NUCLEAR ATTACK! DARWIN DESTROYED!

Reports are still sketchy, but it appears that a nuclear device has been detonated in Darwin Australia. Reports are coming in from isolated settlements about a mushroom cloud and great light in the sky. No reports from Darwin itself are yet possible. Even if any of the town survived, experts say that the electromagnetic pulse would have destroyed any electronic devices within the city.

The Defence Department was unable to be contact to confirm or deny the use of any delivery system, and all defence early warning systems were apparently silent. Experts believe that this was a terrorist device - the much dreaded "suitcase nuke". Reports from the Amberlie Airbase indicate that a wing of F18-Stikefighters are taking off - either to reconnoiter the city or defend against possible attack.

Darwin, with a population of 100,000, has traditionally been the first point of contact for any attack on Australia. During the second world war the city was bombed by the Japanese, and more recently destroyed by Cyclone Tracey. The hardy territorians have rebuilt time and again, but it isn't likely that they will recover from this blow.

More news as it comes to hand.

TERRORIST THREAT MISFIRED

DARWIN SURVIVED WITH MASSIVE CASUALTIES

Sketchy reports are coming back from the devastated city of Darwin. Most of the city still stands, although radiation levels have reached fatal levels in many sections of the city. Response groups are en route to the city, but estimates put casualties at upwards of 50% of the population. Urgent calls are being put world wide for medical supplies to try and treat the radiation sickness. Stocks within Australia are only able to treat 200 people.

The epicenter of the blast has been identified as being within the Kakadu national park. There has been no word of who is responsible but the Minister of Defence has not excluded any possibilities. Various suggestions have been put forward, ranging for the first shot in a war with Indonesia to the action of terrorist groups. Why the bomb was located in the national park is also unknown.

The Prime Minister has issued a statement suggesting that the nation now enters its darkest hour and calling for the population to not panic and to await further announcements.
