H.A.C. Products Sissy Bar Installation

I was going to just mount the Hondaline sissy bar from my '88 on the new bike, but I came across a mean deal on this H.A.C. Products sissy bar on Ebay Germany (knew those Berlitz courses would come in handy someday!)

• Start by removing the seat and the taillight.
• If you're bike is lowered (like mine!), put it up on a stand and remove the back wheel so you can work under the fender.
• Remove the nut located under the taillight, that holds the fender down.
• Mount the sissy bar base to the same bolt you just removed, and reinstall the nut.
• Mount the screw extenders to the mounting bolts on the taillight housing.
• Pass the extended screws on the taillight through the base plate of the sissy bar.
• Now, mount the "u" shaped bracket under the fender. It bolts to the turn signal mounts and to the taillight bolts.
• Reattach the taillight nuts, and reinstall the seat, and you're done!

If you're bike is real low (like mine), you can do without the u-bracket under the fender. It provides a little extra support, but the base is so thick and solid you won't miss it. I've been running mine for nearly a year with only the base bolt holding it on with no problems at all.

Here's a couple of pics showing the base. I wish it was more contoured to the fender.

I've added rubber trim to fill in the gap left over.
