We bought the Jeep on August 18, 2001

What we have figured out is the following:  

The Jeep was left pretty well stock, but someone has added 31" tires at some point.

It came with a 258cid engine, automatic tranny with column shift, and standard differentials

The Jeep was originally bought buy the City of Huntington Beach, California.

From what we can tell (the interior and engine compartment are red)  the Jeep was a lifeguard vehicle.

This was also reinforced when I pulled the tranny skid plate off and removed about a half a pound of sand!
