Our home school began in our children's early years as we read aloud to them and gave them experiences with coloring, singing, blocks, stringing buttons, different kinds of learning games, and Bible reading.

Justin and Judah enjoy a book together.

Music:  Joshua enjoys playing 4 to 8 page pieces of Classical music on our electronic keyboard.  Our children have listened to hundreds of pieces by over 50 different Classical composers, learned music theory, and sung for audiences in the community.

Art:  Jonathan enjoys coloring the little Dover "stained glass" pictures among other things.  The children also do a whole lot of drawing, and a wide variety of hand crafts.

Our children have been part of a community science program every year, in an outdoor amphitheater.  Our 5 are in the foreground: left to right, Justin, Judah, Jennaya, Josh, and Jonathan.

In preschool: our children were early readers, but they also enjoyed activities that developed their fine motor coordination.  Here Jennaya strings buttons at age 4.

Joy Marie home schooled our children from a wheelchair, and began our home school  with our baby and toddler to take care of as well.  It wasn't easy, but God gave her the wisdom she needed to make it work.  Here she is holding Judah 3 (left), and Jennaya 1 (right).

P.E.:  We used park play equipment to give the children exercise and develop balance, muscle strength and coordination.  Here Josh ,7, and Justin, 6, climb and balance on suspended ropes.

Bible, history, and science are fun subjects to discuss.  Discussion has always been an important part of our home school.  Here Josh and Justin discuss science concepts with Mama (Joy Marie).

Science includes all kinds of interesting experiments and experiences.  Here Josh 7 and Justin 6 watch the butterflies we ordered as tiny caterpillars.  Our kids observed them in each stage of their development; then let them go.

For history, we like to go to special places and events.  Here Jennaya, 4, helps "Betsy Ross" sew the American flag at a U.S. history re-enactment.

Jonathan uses the globe for

geography.  Our kids read books on many lands, watched

videos, and labeled countless blank maps for

geography.

Our kids learned gardening in a hands on way.  Left to right: Josh, 8, Judah, 5,  Jennaya, 3, and Justin, 7.

Baby Jennaya does her own "school."
