Auditions

To keep a proper ratio of 'powerful' characters to 'normal' ones, each player is limited to one character requiring an audition(i.e. a god char or high level immortal) per two normal chars. This means if you have a character running a tavern and one char that is a normal priest, you can have one(1) god, high level immortal, or a strong mage.

To have an audition in this MUCK, you must first have been role playing on the muck for a minimum of one to three months in order to get used to our style and theme, and to show the judging wiz corps you have the connection times to keep up with such a character. Secondly, you must, I repeat, MUST, fill out the proper application form for the audition. Sending in a normal character app will not get it approved or looked at. it will be deleted immediately. The link to the audition application form is marked on the char app page, follow it to the right page and fill it out. Then, and only then, will we consider the application.

NOTE: Do not pester any of the wizzes about auditioning for any char. We will get to your app as soon as we can. Wait for us to contact you, not the other way around. Bothering any wiz, especially the audition wiz will result in banning. This ruling is final!

There are no feature characters on Cat's Haven. Every character has the potential to start up a plot, and further existing ones. However, some character types are more powerful IC than others, and some species are rarer than others. Auditions are a form of quality control, and allow the wizzes to ensure that players will not abuse the power of their character(s). Players of more powerful characters need to be responsible role-players, and auditions are simply the best way to determine a player's skill.

An audition is a private RP session between a player and at least two wizzes. Depending on where the audition is held, other players may watch the audition, but cannot participate unless the wizzes deem it appropriate otherwise, with this being a rare occurrence Auditions are tailored to the character which the player is trying to obtain, thus helping them get into character. For example, the current town leader of Cat's Haven RP'ed with a citizen complaining about high taxes.

A log is made of the RP session and evaluated by at least two wizzes. Preferably, the analysis is done immediately after the audition, so the wizzes can compare notes and speak to the player about his/her performance. The evaluation is a productive critique: it should point out RP'ing strengths and offer tips for future encounters, regardless of whether or not the character is approved. If it is not possible to critique the RP log immediately, the analysis and decision will be mailed to the player.

Character approval is actually a very hard decision. The wizzes have to take into account how each character can affect the dynamics of the muck, and thus cannot allow anything and everything. Disapproval from an audition is not a personal attack on the player or his/her role-playing style, and should a player still wish to play a certain character, they may request another audition later, supplemented with some RP logs of what they've done to improve since the last audition.
