Theme
The world of Haven, where our MUCK takes place, has its own twist to the basic medieval/fantasy theme. To explain, here is how the world turns. Take our modern, Real-Life time where humans rule the world pretty much. Now awaken the the ancient gods, such as Bast, Osiris, Set, so on and so forth. Some, like Set, have been awake all along, doing their thing with the populace and bending things to their will so most of the world is corrupt like it is now. The other gods didn't like the destructiveness of these wars and how the human race has been taking their world for granted. So a type of war is waged with special humans, and other 'beings' that the troops are under. Finally, the darker forces are beaten back, but not completely. Got to have some bad with the good, you know.

What happens next, is the ancient gods come together, after imprisoning the dark god, and work a little magic on the entire world. Humans are no longer around. Those that showed respect for the planet itself were allowed to stay, but changed to what we call furries, or other beings to populate the world once again from a much less technological stand point. These new furries and 'beings' weren't left to figure things out for themselves, the ancient gods gave them the abilities and instincts to start off right.

The people populating the world of Haven now are decendants of those first furries, and the population has been growing very slowly since those very early days. Right now, the world exists some 60,000 years from that long ago day when furries first appeared. Magic has shaped the world instead of science. Most of the world left to nature, though the towns and such have been either slowly growing, or past wars have destroyed them. The world in general is more closely watched to keep the destructive forces down to a minimum, but that doesn't keep it from happening. Alchemy is at its beginning here, so it'll be mages and other magic users making the nifty things so many love.

If you really want something that requires a lot of science in it, try to explain how it came to be magically with minimum science.
