SAFETY and HANDLING |
|---|
PTM&W products are designed to offer the user high performance products with minimum hazard potential w/hen properly 'used. Generally, PTM&W resins and hardeners win present no handling problems if users exercise care to protect the skin and eyes, and, if good ventilation is provided to the work areas. However, all epoxy resins and hardeners can be irritating to the skin, and prolonged contact may result in sensitization; and breathing of mist or vapors may cause allergenic respiratory reaction, especially in highly sensitive individuals. As such, avoid contact with eyes and skin, and avoid breathing vapors. Wear protective rubber apron, clothing, gloves, face shield or other items as required to prevent-contact with the skin. In case of skin contact, immediately wash with soap and water, followed by a rinse o - f the area with vinegar, and then a further wash with soap and water. The vinegar will neutralize the hardener and lessen the chances of long term effects. Use goggles, a face shield, safety glasses or other items as required to prevent contact with the eyes. If material gets into the eyes, immediately flush with water for at least 15 minutes and call a physician, Generally, keep the area as clean and uncluttered as possible, and clean up any minor spills immediately to prevent accidental skin contact at a later time. Keep tools clean and properly stored. Dispose of trash and empty containers in the proper receptacle,, Do not use any of these types of products until Material Safety Data Sheets have been read and understood.

| LAMINATING SYSTEMS |
|---|
| PR2032 |
A low viscosity, unfilled, light amber laminating resin that is designed for use in fabricating composite parts and other demanding structural applications. This resin provides very good wet-out of fiberglass, carbon and aramid fibers. PR2032 has excellent cured -physical properties, with particularly good flexural strength and high heat resistance with a room temperature cure. |
PR2077 |
A clear, light amber, special purpose epoxy resin designed for wood bonding, sealing and laminating. Two hardeners are available for fast or slower cures with PR2077. This system has excellent adhesion to wood and other surfaces, and it has very good moisture resistance for use in marine applications. |
| ADHESIVES |
|---|
ES6209 |
A 1 to 1 mix, liquid epoxy adhesive that has very good bonding ability to wood, ceramics, metals, composite materials and other surfaces. ES6209 provides tough structural bonds for durable assemblies. |
ES6220 |
A fast setting liquid epoxy adhesive for quick and easy assembly in a variety of non-structural applications. ES6220 works very well on wood and foam, and can be used on aluminum and composite surfaces. |
ES6228 |
A light paste viscosity adhesive for use in bonding metal parts and components. Provides high strength structural bonds to a variety of metal surfaces. It has the ability to bond to slightly oily surfaces, which is useful for bonding metal parts in situations where complete removal of mill oil is not possible. |
ES6279 |
An excellent paste viscosity epoxy adhesive for a wide variety of bonding and patching uses when a gap-filling consistency is needed. ES6279 has an easy 1 to 1 ratio, and a smooth viscosity for ease of use. It is a high performance adhesive for demanding structural applications. |
| LAMINATING SYSTEMS FOR COMPOSITE PARTS |
|---|
DESCRIPTION |
PR2032 is a medium viscosity, unfilled, light amber laminating resin that is designed for structural production applications. When. used with the three hardeners listed here, the combinations provide excellent wet-out of fiberglass, carbon and aramid fibers. Special additives have been incorporated into these products to promote chemical adhesion to fabrics made with these fibers. Typical applications include aircraft and sail plane skins and structural components, auto bodies, radomes and prototype parts. |
Hardeners PH3660 and PH3665 are the standard production hardeners for fabricating composite parts. PH3660 has a one hour working time, and PH3665 has been developed to provide a longer working time for larger and/or more complicated laminates I when needed. Both of these hardeners will cure completely at room temperature without additional heat. PH3630 is a faster setting hardener for smaller laminates which also works very well for patching and repairs,,; PH3630 has a similar viscosity to PH3660 and PH3665, so handling will be the same, except for the faster cure. |
These products can be considered low toxicity materials, that have minimum hazard potential when used properly and in a clean and responsible manner. PR2032 does not contain any hazardous diluents or extenders, Hardeners PH3630, PH3660 and PH3665 do not contain methylene dianiline (MDA), or other potentially harmful aniline derivatives. Neither the resin or the hardeners will crystallize in normal shipping and storage conditions, including refrigerated storage. Both components have excellent moisture resistance, for minimal problems in high humidity environments. |

| HANDLING & CURING |
|---|
PH3660 and PH3665 are the hardeners typically used to fabricate larger composite parts. PH3660 has a one hour working time, and can be used for all sizes of parts using the contact lay up method of fabrication. If the vacuum bagging technique is being used, PH3660 should only be used for smaller parts. Hardener PH3665 has a longer working time that is useful for vacuum bagging larger parts before the resin has gelled. Hardener PH3630 is intended for smaller laminates, fast repairs, or additions to a primary structure. With hardener PH3630, plan to allow the laminate to cure 18 to 24 hours, at a minimum of 72ºF before removing the structure from the mold. With hardeners ; PH3660 and PH3665, allow at least 24 hours before demolding to prevent distortion. This can be accelerated by applying heat after the resin has gelled. Be careful using heat guns and lamps, as they tend to concentrate heat, producing localized hot spots which can damage the epoxy. These systems can be cured at ambient temperatures, or given an elevated temperature cure. The higher the curing temperature is, the higher the resulting service temperature. With a higher temperature cure, a safe service temperature well over 200ºF can be obtained.

Lightweight High-Strength Patching/Filler Compound
PRODUCT FEATURES |
|---|
DESCRIPTION |
AEROPOXY LIGHT is a two-component paste epoxy patching and filter compound for foam, wood, fiberglass, and other surfaces. The mixed consistence of this system is very smooth' and creamy, so it spreads easily , and can be splined to a feather edge without separation. It is a thixotropic, non-sag material that will remain in -place in thick sections, even when applied upside down! The resin and hardener of this system are color coded for easy mixing. The resin is white -and the hardener is brown, giving a good visual indication of complete mixing with a uniform tan color free of streaks. AEROPOXY LIGHT has special low density fillers incorporated into it that provide very distinct, benefits. It is a very light material (4 pounds per gallon), andtherefore contributes minimal added weight to the filled or repaired structure. Also, the cured material is very easy to sand, making the finished patch undetectable when covered d or painted. There are no volatile ingredients in AEROPOXY LIGHT, so the cured material will not outgass, which could cause a loss of adhesion of paint or coverings. AEROPOXY LIGHT is a modification of our ES6279 high performance adhesive system, therefore it has excellent adhesion to a Wide variety of materials. It is not corrosive to metals, and will not promote corrosion on these surfaces so bond line stability and long term, adhesion are excellent. AEROPOXY LIGHT is a non-toxic material. There are no hazardous or restricted raw materials in either the resin or hardener of this system.
