I was born in Carnegie, Oklahoma, and raised a family in Oklahoma City. I lived in Stillwater while attending Oklahoma State University, and then moved back to "The City" before moving to Dallas. My Powell surname line has deep roots in Lawrence County, Tennessee. My HYDER line was in Wautauga, Tennessee. My VENABLE and WOODSON and MORTON line passes through Williamsburg and Jamestown, Virginia. My MILLSAP line was involved in the founding of Millsaps College and the VENABLEs and MORTONs in the founding of Hampden-Sydney College. |

My data is really the repository of the work of many persons. This is to acknowledge major contributions of GEDCOM grafts to my tree: HYDER - Mary Gail Manes and Melaney Moore Dodson provided the bulk of Hans Heider, Michael HYDER descendants, (2100+ names). FUQUA - Cheryl Jackson provided 518 cousins descended from Moses Fuqua and wife Judith Woodson. POWELL and related Lawrence Co. TN lines. Cousins Pat McDonald, Herb Abrams, Ken and Ellen Allen, and genealogist Pat Mahan and I worked together for over a year in 1996-1997 on the Lawrence Co. TN Powell line. To them I am eternally grateful. Wow -- what a project! HORNSBY - Jesse S. Hornsby provided virtually all the Hornsby surnames (4700+ names). Jesse cites his major collaborators, Jack R. Roberts, Betty Joe Stephens, Ms Betty Bowman. In the Hornsby lines, the Sources point to the Notes sections. (Note: These names are not added to the Powell database.) |
