Text Box: In the mid-40s -- when I was about 10 -- I was staying with my grandmother in Ruston, Louisiana, while my mother was ill. While I was there, Sunset Carson made a personal appearance one Saturday afternoon at the movie theater. I GOT TO SEE HIM IN PERSON!!! He was one of my favorite stars and I was absolutely thrilled to death. This memory has stayed with me all these years. I would love to know more about him. How can I obtain this information?
Thanks.

Text Box: As a young boy we lived in Van Nuys, Ca. which is in the San Fernando Valley.  We lived close to Republic Studios where Sunset Carson filmed many of his movies.  We lived in close proximity to many movie stars and studio people of the day.  As a boy nine years old in 1944, Sunset used to visit our small ranch in the Valley.  We called him Mike.  He used to bring huge steaks for us to BAR-B-Q.
Meat was hard to come by then because of the war.  My excitement was beyond imagination when he took me to Republic Studio's and showed me where and how they filmed the movies. When a new movie of his would come to the VALLEY THEATER in North Hollywood he would make a personal appearance and I would be there as his friend.  Imagine the excitement for a young kid like me.
I have autographed pictures and theater posters of Sunset and also the sad news articles of his death.
He is missed but the memories are always with me.
