Repentance

The September 1st Solomon's Porch began, "We are led to believe, by the media and our government, that The United States, it seems, is in a war on two fronts simultaneously. The war on terrorism and the war on drugs".

Although it is true, war is being waged on both those fronts, that's not the total picture. There is another battle ground where the enemy is vicious but very subtle, always operating in a devious and stealthy manner. Like the proverbial moth being drawn to the flame it is alluring but extremely harmful, dangerous and disastrous. It is alarming to learn that some of the most respected leaders among us have been lured into accepting a "New Doctrine" a doctrine that flies in the face of every thing the Bible teaches, they are calling it the "Doctrine of Inclusion" a doctrine that teaches no declaration of belief in Christ as Savior is necessary for going to heaven. This "doctrine" apparently had it's beginning several years ago and states that human beings are neither required nor given a choice to determine their eternal destiny. In other words, Jesus loves all and died for all and all are going to heaven whether they like it or not, or believe it or not, unless of course (as this doctrine points out) those that have "tasted of the fruits" of real intimacy with Christ and have "intentionally and consciously rejected" the grace of God will spend eternity separated from Him. This doctrine is preached by Carlton Pearson of Tulsa Oklahoma and other "pastors" that call themselves "Universal Reconciliationists". Pearson, who pastors a large church in Tulsa known as "Higher Dimensions Family Church" also ran for Mayer of Tulsa this year and lost after a May article in Charisma called attention to his controversial doctrinal stance. To learn more about this controversial ministry check out the "People & Events" section on page 24 of the October issue of Charisma Magazine.

This doctrine is apparently getting some fairly wide spread exposure these days. According to Charisma thousands are subscribing to it. Traditional Christians refer to this sort of thing as, "Cheap Christianity". We need to be aware of this "creeping paralysis" for it could certainly destroy beautiful relationships established with our Creator. This Solomon's Porch is meant to be an informative caveat, a warning or caution.

If according to this doctrine all are going to heaven, then there is no need of Hell, so why does the Bible, Gods infallible, inerrant word tell us that it does exist and that some are going to wind up there? We read in Luke 16:24 " And he (a rich man that died) cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame". Where do we suppose the "rich man that died" was when he cried out?

We do admit and acknowledge that Jesus did die for all, including those referred to in the Old Testament. Jesus even met with some of them according to Mark 9:4 "And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus". And what about Matt 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Do you wonder where those "bodies of the saints" were?.

And what about "repentance?" Repent in the Hebrew and the Greek has pretty much the same sense, meaning to turn from, and/or being sorry for what you have done or are doing, or not doing what you should do or should be doing. Those adhering to this "more appealing and attractive message of God's unconditional love for all" where repentance and receiving Christ is not a consideration should take a look at what the Bible has to say about repenting and repentance. The word "repent" appears 46 times in the Bible and repentance 26 times. And makes it quite clear that sinners are to repent. Therefore ...Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Ezekiel 18:30. Do we think for one minute that if we are ruined sinners we will go to heaven? Not hardly. Jesus said, "...for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Matt 9:13. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. Luke 24:47. What must be remembered is that all sin is transgression of God's law. Therefore all sin is against God, not against man. We are pretty sure that there will not be any unrepentant sinners in heaven. This is the primary reason God requires repentance. Jesus came to call us to repentance, but if repentance is not necessary then we don't need Jesus. If you care to look, other verses that support this are : Job 42:6, Ezekiel 14:6, Joel 2:14, Matthew 3:2 and 4:17, Mark 1:15, 2:17and 6:12, Luke 5:32, Luke 13:3,5, 16:30, 17:3, and 17:4, Acts 2:38, 3:19, 8:22, 17:30, and 26:20, Rev 2:5, 2:16, 2:22, 3:3, and 3:19, and many more.

This information is made available here on the Porch that all who read it may be careful not to get duped into this false doctrine. Paul the Apostle said in Gal 1:8 "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." And the gospel which Paul preached held fast to the traditional doctrine that is espoused in the Christian churches and as we know it today. Beware of false teachers. 2 Peter 2:1 warns, "But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction". Ezekiel 18:30.

Jesus answered and said unto them, "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God." (Matt 22:29)

Be alert. Stay away from cults, they lead to bondage and eventual eternal damnation.

And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch John 10:23 ...
and they were all with one accord in Solomon's porch Acts 5:12
