“Faire Spirit” (2008)
This album contains the very first MicheMalou mini-album with the same name. It was recorded in the summer of 2001 and released in October of that year. They were never very satisfied with the first release of “Faire Spirit” because it only contained 6 songs: “Petronella”, “Greensleeves”, “Ginger”, “Galveston Fantasy”, “The Cutting Of The Fern” and “Lueget vo Bärg und Tal”. The CD was finished in somewhat of a hurry. Colin Norton recently went back over the old recordings and preserved all of the harp parts but replaced some of the guitar and bass parts and re-mixed the songs to give them a better sound. The six tunes from the original release were re-mixed in 2008. They have been given new life, and vocals have been added to “Luegit vo Bärg und Tal”.
The four new editions to this album are “Farewell” (recorded in 2004), Thomas Moore’s “Has Sorrow Thy Young Days Shaded” (which has been given a vocal harmony treatment and was recorded in 2005), “Suo Gan” (which is a traditional Welsh tune and was used in the Soundtrack to the movie “Empire Of The Sun” and benefits from an interesting mix of instrumental and vocal work, recorded in 2005), and “The Cliffs Of Dooneen” (which was recorded in January and February 2008).
The line-up on all of these tracks is:
