Valentine and his father Andrew were taxpayers in Londonderry TWP,
Bedford Co., PA. Valentine was in Londonderry, Somerset Co. (formed in
1795 from the west part of Bedford Co.) with two males and three females
under 10..also two males 10-16 whom may have been farm helpers.
In 1789 Valentine was a member of the Bedford PA Milita along with his
father Andrew.
Valentine and Catherine (Woodford) purchased 125 acres S28 T6 R3, 2 1/2
miles east of St. Clairsville. Now I-70 goes along the southern edge of
this land and US40 is 300 yards north of I-70. They sold this land to
John McMahan on March 25, 1811 for $1100.
Records show Valentine and Ludwick Shearer paying tax in 1806 in Ohio.
Also in 1840 his will is on page 01055 of Ohio records of Probate.

Fillmore County is located in the southeastern portion of the State of
Nebraska. It is about 24 miles from the southern boundary of the state
and 90 miles west of the Missouri River. The count is 24 miles square and
is bordered by Hamilton, York, Seward. Saline, Jefferson, Thayer,
Nuckolls and Clay counties. It is made up of sixteen townships: Grafton,
West Blue, Fairmont, Exeter, Bennett, Geneva, Madison, Liberty, Momence,
Stanton, Chelsea, Glengary, Bryant, Hamilton, Belle Prairie, and
Franklin. Each township is made up of 36 sections. The county seat is
Geneva which is located in the center of the county.

Logan Republican July 17, 1947
Robert James Lafferty, eldest son of Matthew M. and Ida May Lafferty, was
born September 1, 1879 in Marshalltown, Marshall Co., Iowa. (closest
large town to Montour, Tama Co., IA where the Lafferty's were farming.)
In the spring of 1882, he moved with his parents to a farm west of Speed
where he lived until the death of his mother in 1888. He was sent to New
York and made his home with his paternal grandparents for the next 3
years, returning to Kansas in 1892, living with his father, sister and
brothers. In 1901, he was united in marriage to Alta May Barber of
Speed, Kansas. To this union four children were born; Ethel (Nipps),
Earl, Carl and Lyle. In 1907 they bought a farm southeast of Logan where
they resided until 1942 when they moved to Logan. He had been in
declining health during the past 3 years, passing quietly away in his
home July 12, 1947, at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 11 days. He
was preceded in death by his infant son Earl, and a grand daughter
Shirley Anne. Funeral services were conducted from the Troup Funeral
Home on July 15th, by Rev. Robert Mize of Ellsworth, KS. assisted by Rev.
Peter Francis of Norton. Interment was in the family lot at Logan.
