Mr. Michael Skinner Mr. Michael F. Skinner, age 61, of 38 Harriet Ave., Ilion, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2002, after a long illness. He was born April 14, 1941, in Utica, the son of the late Francis and Helen Lafferty Skinner. He received his education at St. Mary's Academy in Little Falls, graduating in 1959. He then attended and graduated from Lemoyne College and SUNY- Brockport. On April 14, 1978, he married the former Juliann E. Piccione at St. Ann's Church in Whitesboro. Mike was a history teacher at Ilion High School for 30 years and also coached in the sports program there, until retiring from teaching in 1997.

Mike served with the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1966, and taught high school in New Castle, Australia, for a year. Mike was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, and devoted a great deal of time and effort to the youth of Ilion. He was a member of the board of directors of Ilion Little League for over 10 years, a coach for Ilion High School, helped start the Ilion youth basketball program, and he was also a member of the Ilion Elks Lodge 1444 BPOE. After his retirement, he was employed with the American Automobile Association in Utica.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Juliann; and his beloved children, Christopher and Matthew, both at home; a sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Joseph Maurice of Salt Lake City, Utah; an aunt, CSJ James Margaret Lafferty of Latham; his mother and father-in-law, Jerry and Julia Piccione, of Whitesboro; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Kathryn and Peter Dellerba of Whitesboro and Nancy and Patrick Clark of Marcy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, June 3, at 1 p.m. in the Church of the Annunciation, Ilion. Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Little Falls. Friends may call Sunday, June 2, from 4-7 p.m. at the Whiter-Hendrix Funeral Home, 100 Otsego St., Ilion. At the family's request, please omit flowers. Memorial donations may be made to the Michael F. Skinner Memorial c/o the Ilion High School, Weber Avenue, or the Miracle House, P.O. Box 30931, New York 10114-0269.
