DEATH of CHAS. A. FOSTER
Charles Albert Foster, a well known young man of this community, died at
the home of his mother, Mrs. Lucy Foster, in Red Oak, Monday afternoon at
10 o’clock from scarlet fever after an illness of only five days. He was
born on a farm near Red Oak, Nov. 8, 1889, and had spent his entire life
in this community. On April 9, 1911, he was married to Miss Ruth Ashby, a
Red Oak girl. Mrs. Foster and an infant child preceded Mr. Foster to the
other world. Short funeral services were held in the yard at the home
Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock, conducted by Rev. F. N. Willis, D. D., of
the Methodist church. The pallbearers were Henry Marsden, L. D. Powell,
Leo V. Myers and M. L. Stewart. Burial was in Red Oak cemetery. Mr.
Foster was a member of Pilot Grove Center Methodist church and had served
several years as a member of Company M. At the time of his death he was
employed by the Kerrihard Co. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Lucy
Foster, and six brothers, Frank, of Galesburg, Ill.; Joe M. of Denver,
Colo.; Jesse L., of Davenport; and Roy, Paul and Faye, of Red Oak. Faye
took sick at the same time Charles did with scarlet fever, but is not
considered in a critical condition.
