Mrs. C. W. Copeland Sick
A telegram received here Friday night from Colorado, told of the serious
illness of Mrs. C. W. Copeland, a former resident of Elliott. The message
read that the lady was not expected to live. Her three daughters, Mesdames
Job Wilson, of this city; W.A. Westover of Grant, and Clark Weidman of Red
Oak departed for her bedside Saturday morning.
LATER - Mrs. Copeland died Tuesday and will be brought back to Elliott
about
Friday. Time for funeral services is not known at present.
OBITUARY
MARTHA A. (SHEARER) COPELAND
Martha Shearer, was born May 29, 1845, and departed this life, Jan. 2nd,
at
her home in Colorado. She was married in 1870 to C. W. Copeland and to
them
were born five children; two boys and three girls all of whom are living
in
this county except one boy who departed this life when a child. The
children
are Ed Copeland of Coburg, Mrs. Job Wilson of Elliott, Mrs. W. A. Westover
of Douglas Township and Mrs. Clark Weidman of Red Oak. The remains were
brought to Elliott for burial. Funeral services were held in the First
M.E.
Church at this place on Friday, Jan. 6. The services were conducted by the
pastor, Rev. J.W. Stokesbury. Many old friends of the family were present
to
show their respect for the departed and to extend their sympathy to the
living. Interment was made in the Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Copeland will not return to his Colorado home again this winter, but
will remain here with his children.
