Daniel served with Co. K. IN. Inf. Vol Union Army during the Civil War. His discharge was in June 17 , 1865. He was a farmer, carpenter and wagon maker. He built bridges and laid the first sewer pipes in Indianapolis, IN. He served as a special policeman for 11 years. In addition to his own 8 children, he raised 16 orphan children. Daniel married Martha Ann Robertson, daughter of William and Frances Talla Robertson July 14, 1844. He married three times altogether. Amalie Romerill was his second wife and Elizabeth Darrow his third. He raised Elizabeth's 3 sons and 4 daughters. This man in all, raised 31 children. He is buried at Anderson Cemetery on East 10th St. Indianapolis, IN.
