Mrs. John Bope
Mary Jane Border was born in Erie County, Penn, Feb. 21, 1843 and died at
her home in Hartwick, Iowa Dec. 31, 1929. In 1856 she came with her
parents to Iowa and the family settled in Iowa county on a farm fours
miles north of Victor, Iowa.
On Dec 31, she was united in marriage with George Lyman, who passed away
Feb 7, 1906. On June 22, 1910 Mrs Lyman was married to John Bope. By
her first marriage she became the mother of ten children four sons and
six daughters of whom one daughter died at an early age and another
daughter Mrs. Anetta Pease died about five years ago. Besides her
bereaved husband, Mrs. Bope leaves to mourn her loss four sons, Norman of
Washington, Louis Lyman of Belle Plain, George Lyman of Carnforth and Ora
Lyman of Tama: and four daughters Mrs Edith Dupre of Chelsea, Mrs. Olive
Vermance of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs Amlo Dutro, and Mrs Bertha Bope of
Hartwick. Two brother of the deceased, William Border of Victor and
Edward Border of LaPorte City and three sisters; Mrs. Amanda Border of Mt
Vernon, Mrs Tillie Edmonton of Minn, and Mrs Emma Marcellus of Belle
Plain survive her.
