Elves were the first civilized race to inhabit Mater. They are the children of Silvae.
Dark Elves
Seduced by Hiems, Faal, one of the earliest Elves, became jealous of his brother and killed him. Enraged, Aestas cast Faal out of Elven society and turned his skin an ebony color to brand him as a murderer. Therefore, Faal became the father of the Dark Elves.
The average Dark Elf stands 155cm and weighs 40kg. They are ebony skinned with yellow or red eyes. Their hair ranges from black to white. They are slightly larger and stronger than other Elves. Dark Elves posses Nightvision which allows them to see in darkness. Dark Elves have shorter lifespans than other Elves; maturing around 80 years and living to 400 years. This is believed to be another punishment laid on Faal.
Dark Elves are generally thought of as evil by other races and other Elves as well. They do not possess the same concern for the Mother as their brothers. Dark Elves are envious of High Elves' favor with the gods and see all other races as inferior. Dark Elves are cold, calculating and manipulative. Dark Elves make up about two percent of the population on Mater.
Half-Elves
Half-Elves are the result of a union between an Elf and a Human. Pure Elves treat Half-Elves as Humans. Humans tend to be more accepting of Half-Elves.
The average Half-Elf stands 160cm and weighs 60kg. They have fairer skin than Humans but not as fair as full Elves. Thier eyes are green and their hair has the same range as Humans. They are larger and stronger than pure Elves. Half-Elves posses Partial Nightvision which gives them better sight in darkness. Half-Elves also have a longer lifespan than Humans, but shorter than pure Elves; maturing around 40 years and living to 200 years.
Half-Elves make up about eight percent of the population on Mater.
High Elves
High Elves were the first and true children of Silvae. They were a proud and graceful race that lived in harmony with the forrests. As the ocean swallowed up land, the High Elves retreated deeper and deeper into the woods. They now live in the deepest and thickest woodlands far from the other civilized races.
The average High Elf stands 145cm and weighs 36kg. Their skin is very pale and almost luminecent. Their hair ranges from gold to silver and their eyes can be nearly any color in the rainbow. High Elves possess Nightvision which allows them to see in the darkness. They also have very long lives; maturing around 160 years and living to 800 years.
High Elves consider themselves superior to all other races. They have a grudging respect for Dwarves and Wood Elves. High Elves make up about two percent of the population on Mater.
Wood Elves
When Oceanus' advance was stopped by Montis, some Elves ventured out of the deep woods. Driven by curiosity, the Wood Elves explored the lands at the edge of the forrests. Wood Elves were the first civilized race the Dwarves encountered. There was some animosity between the two as the Dwarves believed themselves to be the first sentient race.
The average Wood Elf stands 145cm and weighs 36kg. Their skin is darker than High Elves, but still much fairer than Humans. Their hair is colorful, but earthy in color. Like High Elves, their eyes can be nearly any color in the rainbow. Wood Elves possess Nightvision which allows them to see in the darkness. They have the same lifespan as High Elves.
Wood Elves are far more tolerant of other races than High Elves, however, Wood Elves retain their kinship with the forrest and are fiercely protective of it. Wood Elves are also more curious than High Elves. Most other races base their knowledge of Elves solely on Wood Elves. Many races are not even aware of Dark and High Elves. Wood Elves make up about eight percent of the population on Mater.
