SEVEN WAYS TO SEDUCE A MARTIAN

What’s a “token male” to do? Brent Davison, lone "Martian" drowning in a sea of "Venusians", finds himself stuffed with homemade goodies, herbal cures and attempts to sign him up to play a sport he despises… The only sane person in the all female office is his sexy cube neighbor, Jodi Baker.

Jodi has had enough of men. Left at the altar, there’s no way she’ll take her co-workers up on their wild bet to see who can seduce the mysterious Brent first. Let the others go for it—she’ll take no notice of him. Strangely enough, it's Jodi’s leaving Brent alone that turns him on the most...

What the reviewers/readers are saying about
Seven Ways to Seduce a Martian

You have a great sense of humor. --author Judith Rochelle

Loving it so far! --April Morelock, Romance Readers Weekly.com

Cynthianna has such a flair for humor. --Jenny, romance reader

This office romance focused on relationships and at times kept me in stitches and at times brought a tear. I felt as though I knew the women; the online company seemed to be a fun, modern workplace. The women's personalities and problems were engaging. Overall, I recommend Cynthianna Appel's Seven Ways to Seduce a Martian and recommend it especially to women who like to read Chick Lit. (4.5 Wands) --Kyra for Enchanted Ramblings

The joy in this book is in watching the women interact. By the end, they all find their places, although not all seductions end as we might expect. Cynthianna masterfully handles eight main characters, keeping them separate and unique entities so the reader has the chance to feel comfortable with them all. Another thing I really enjoyed are the emails from Jodi to her best friend and Brent to one of his frat brothers, a great vehicle to fill in events she didn't want to show us in real time and for back story. I would definitely recommend this book, and in fact, already have!--Dee S. Knight, author of I’m No Saint, Valentine and Passionate Destiny

Cynthianna Appel shows that while men may be from Mars, they can be persuaded to get in touch with their Venus side. A totally fun and sexy read you don't want to pass up. --Linda Wisdom, author of Caution Man At Work, O'Hara Vs Wilder and Memories After Midnight

Loved the great camaraderie between all the women in the group, even though they had their ups and downs. It really came across well, with none of the cattiness one might expect; wonderful. The “blooming” that happened as each woman learned about herself, and that all due to Brent’s joining the office (a single Martian in the midst of all the Venusians), leaves such a picture of happiness; you just know things are going to work out for all. Thank goodness the emotional hang-ups (some more serious than others) each has, work out along the way. A wonderful tale!

Overall rating: four hearts
Sensuality rating: Very sensual
Reviewer: Glenda K. Bauerle, The Romance Studio

After being dumped at the altar, Jodi Baker takes a time out to lick her wounds, and heal her broken heart. She puts her dreams of a higher education on hold, and takes a dead end office job.

The all female staff is titillated by the new blood in the office, the quiet, but handsome, Mr. Brent Davison. When a girls night out results in a serious wager, (Who will bed the new guy first?) Jodi wants nothing of it, but still has to stand by and watch her friends make fools of themselves. Before the bet is won, she's wondering if she isn't the biggest fool of them all...

SEVEN WAYS TO SEDUCE A MARTIAN is written in a light and easy style, and is full of enough steam to fill a sauna. I highly recommend it.--Renee' Barnes, The Trailer Park Gazette

Cynthianna Appel has written a witty account of the foibles of dating in the twenty-first century. Jodi is the quintessential modern woman with her independent ways, while Brent has an extremely vulnerable side he hides with his aloof manner. They both show remarkable tenderness towards each other once the barriers are breached and the underlying motives are exposed. The typical office setting creates a great backdrop filled with varied characters that people the story nicely. I enjoyed this book. (4 cups)
--Kathy, Reviewer for Coffee Time Romance, Reviewer for Karen Find Out About New Book

SEVEN WAYS TO SEDUCE A MARTIAN is an incredibly charming and funny story. You can just picture this poor man being bombarded with tons of unwanted female attention. I got the biggest kick out of his emails to his (frat) brother, as well as Jodi’s emails to her girlfriend. They were so animated, and it was great fun to read what they’d say through email. While the main storyline is Jodi and Brent’s romance, I loved that Cynthianna Appel didn’t leave out details about the other coworkers’ various relationships as they developed.

Each of these women is so different that it’s hard to imagine them as friends but they balance each other out beautifully. If you’re looking for a very funny story with heart, SEVEN WAYS TO SEDUCE A MARTIAN is the ideal book for you. (4.5 blue ribbons)

Ms. Appel's story shows how life can be both fun and heartbreaking to younger singles, even how personal and working relationships can form your life and even change what you thought your life goals were. Jo for Joyfully Reviewed.

SEVEN WAYS TO SEDUCE A MARTIAN

Whack!

“Damn computer…”

Jodi startled and swiveled around in her desk chair. The smacking sound came from across the passageway, quickly followed by a long string of muttered curse words that only the male of the species could do justice to. She rose to investigate.

“Can I help?”

Brent twisted about at his desk. “Other than get me a new job? I don’t think so.”

Jodi understood the feeling well. She quirked an eyebrow, casually shifting her weight to lean a foot against his back cubicle wall.

“I can’t believe your machine is acting up so much. I thought you got a brand new system. It must be a lemon.”

“Purchased by our chief lemonade-maker and totally misnamed co-worker, Ms. Keryn Wiseman, no doubt?” A slight sneer curled the corners of Brent’s full lips, making him appear more sensual than cynical. “I guess that only goes to show the flaws inherent in the Equal Opportunity Act.”

Frowning, Jodi crossed her arms. “What are you implying?”

“Nothing. It was wrong of me to say that. I apologize. After all, I am the ‘token male’ around here, aren’t I? I shouldn’t bad-mouth the government for protecting a single male’s right to hold a steady job in this day and age.”

Sheesh! He sounded worse than her older brother after he was downsized from his job.

“You’ve got a rotten attitude, Brent Davison. Has anyone ever told you that?”

He tilted back in his chair, staring out of the corner of his eye at his sickly monitor. “Not in the last month or so. But I do appreciate being reminded from time to time. Thanks for caring.”

“Don’t mention it.” She turned to leave.

“And I do mean thanks,” he called out. “You’ve been very cooperative. I sincerely appreciate it.”

Jodi froze in mid-step at the doorway then spun around to re-enter the cubicle. “Excuse me?”

I based my hero, Brent Davison, on hunky X-File alumni David Duchovny. (He can "alien abduct me" any day!)

Brent leaned forward and softened his tone. “I just wanted to tell you that you’ve been a wonderful cubicle neighbor. No plates of tempting desserts shoved under my nose, no awful tasting herbal remedies forced down my throat, no repeated attempts to sign me up for a sport I detest. I can’t thank you enough for utterly ignoring my presence in the office this week.”

So…the girls’ plans to seduce Brent Davison were falling short of the mark. The idea brought a smile to Jodi’s lips. She crossed her eyes and stuck out her tongue at him in mock disgust. “Gee, thanks. You’re entirely welcome. It’s been my pleasure.”

He chuckled. “Please don’t mention it—you know I sure as hell won’t.”

Brent flashed a wicked grin before slapping his computer again on the side. Miraculously, the distorted image on the monitor corrected itself.

“Hey, neighbor, I think you ought to put in for Keryn’s job. Your mojo seems to work better than hers does. Yours even works from across the room.”

“Ta-da!” Jodi snapped her fingers and wiggled her nose. “I’m your magic genie next door. If you have any other problems that need fixing, you know exactly where to find me.”

He scratched his chin, considering her for a long moment then nodded. “Yeah, you’re right. I do.”

Exiting, Jodi hummed a happy tune. Even wearing flats she felt ten inches taller today.
