Bonnen Presented Lone
Star Leadership Award
State Representative Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) was presented
with the Texas Lone Star Leadership Award by the Texas Public Policy
Foundation (TPPF) at the end of the 78th Legislative Session.
The TPPF is a non-profit, non-partisan research institute
that provides information on issues to policy makers, the media, and the
general public.
In addition to Bonnen, recipients include Governor Rick
Perry, Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst, Speaker Tom Craddick, senators Ken
Armbrister, Jane Nelson and Florence Shapiro and state representatives
Dianne Delisi, Kent Grusendorf, Talmadge Heflin, Mike Krusee, Representative
Kenny Marchant, Joe Nixon, and Arlene Wohlgemuth.
"These men and women have served the people of Texas with
distinction," said Wendy Gramm, chairman of the Foundation's board of
directors. "We looked for the elected officials who have truly distinguished
themselves on issues the Foundation had identified as crucial to the state
this session."
The Texas Lone Star Leadership Award is presented to those
who the TPPF thinks has "demonstrated a commitment to the principles of
liberty, good government and sound policy through their leadership during
the 78th Legislative Session."
The TPPF
also presented Texas Hero Awards to those actively promoting sound public
policy during the 78th session. Recipients include representatives Carl
Isett, Bill Keffer, Glenn Lewis, Larry Taylor, and Ron Wilson.
"Texans wanted elected officials to roll up their sleeves
and work hard for them this session," said TPPF president Brooke Leslie
Rollins. "We are proud of the work these men and women are doing for Texas."
Primarily a research institution, the TPPF generates
academically sound data on state issues. The general public can assess
articles at
www.TexasPolicy.com.
"I am very honored to be recognized by TPPF," Bonnen said.
"This group is guided by the core principles of limited government, free
enterprise, private property rights and individual responsibility. Those
same principles are fundamental to my work as a state representative for the
people of Brazoria County."
