This is the stretch I think everyone was dreading: approximately 25 miles directly into a stout southerly wind. Weather Underground remembers the max wind speed of that day to be 28mph, with gusts to 35mph.

There are some beautiful stained-glass windows in this church.

The temperature reached 100 degrees today in Hays. The evening entertainment was a trip to the Rans factory, where light aircraft and recumbent bicycles are manufactured. The folks there fed us from a "burrito bar" and let us take their recumbents for test drives.

I think everyone is hoping for a break from the headwind (and the heat) tomorrow...
