Day 6 - Abilene to Wamego

Today's route took us through Fort Riley.  Fortunately, no strip search was necessary.  Those lads sure tote big heat.

What a beautiful chunk of land.

After Fort Riley, and before Manhattan, it started to rain again.  Not too hard to ride, but enough to put big mud stripes on the backs of the fenderless.  ;-)  The temperature stayed cool, and the wind at our backs, and we proceeded to make good time into Wamego.

Lunch in Wamego was at a diner called The Friendly Cooker.  After lunch, a quick walk around town revealed Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout in the inventory of a liquor store at the south end of town.  Big Yum.  A pasta and meat sauce dinner provided by the Wamego Band Boosters, and a late night visit to Sonic capped off a full day of grazing-across-kansas.
