Today, I finally caught up with Paul Reaves, the only other single-speeder I met on the A route. He rides a 1951 Schwinn that he says was the first bicycle he had as a kid. Note the nice fenders, front suspension, and drum brake. He pushes a 52t chainring against a 22t freewheel. I had been seeing him once a day -- when he passed me.

Today's route, which was largely flat, wandered through the Quivera National Wildlife Refuge. A nice 64 mile day, 'though it was a bit of a slog into a northeast headwind.
The lunch stop was at the Wheatland Cafe in Hudson. I enjoyed the cherry cobbler with ice cream.

Big Yum.
