Day 8 - Garnett to La Cygne

Well, today turned out to be fairly challenging -- plenty of hills.  A couple of them were real groaners.  On the downhill side, I reached 32 mph a couple of times, which I know is No Big Deal on a freewheeling bike.  However, on the fixed-gear bike, that means pedaling at about 150 rpm.  Brakes are good.

And here's the requisite picture-at-the-border:

The end-of-the-ride banquet was as good as ever:  fried chicken, spaghetti, salads, beans.  Another Big Yum.  Another great year.

Kansas is beautiful.  No, it doesn't have Colorado's mountains, nor Florida's shores.  Instead, it has 180 degrees of sky, no matter where you are.  Its towns have friendly folks, always welcoming and inquisitive, great biking roads, cafes, and ethnic heritage.

And, there's no better way to experience it all than from a bicycle.
