Day 4 - Osborne to Lincoln
 Route Map  Elevation Profile

By anybody's account (well, except for those folks riding this leg in reverse), this was the toughest day of the week.  The unexaggerated wind speed was 20 to 40 out of the south.  We had about 30 miles into this rather tough headwind.  And, there were hills.  Lotsa hills.

We got a good start on the day by fueling up with breakfast provided at the high school.

This meal got us about 30 miles down the road where we stopped in the town of Hunter, where a (large) group of volunteers did a fantastic job of feeding hundreds of cyclers.  Again, it's just cool how the small towns have come out in support of BAK.

It's hard to see in this picture, but that last bit of pavement in the background is a hill that I don't like very well.

Grunting to the top, and unable to outrun a recumbent rider who had elected to walk his bike, I hopped off and walked the last 50 yards or so.  But, hey...I'm sure bikers with more than one gear took it hard here, also.

A challenging day like this makes for a noisy, friendly gathering at the Biggie Bigg's Deli-Pub:

Much Boulevard Stout was offered and accepted.  I think we finished off their last keg.  Oh, and those $0.50 tacos sure didn't hurt!

Tough day...
