You never know what'll pop up out of a Kansas field:
Paul Reaves rode his tandem solo most of the route this year after his sisters resigned their positions as stoker.
Today's rain really cooled things down. A welcome relief from the previous day's hot wind.
We opted to lunch in Abilene by dropping south off the route. Had lunch in the La Fiesta mexican restaurant. The remaining 10 miles into Chapman was an easy NE stretch where we were helped along by a bit of a tailwind.
Arriving in Chapman, we could see the town was ready to party: the streets were blocked off to motor vehicles, there was a stage for entertainment...
...and an ice cream maker was getting fired up...
One more example of how these small towns have really done an excellent job of welcoming all these riders.
