I should probably make that more clear...
The day the route went south into the wind, I noticed quite a few
cyclers riding NORTH, instead. Later, I found out that some folks
who had access to motor transportation had been dropped at the south
end of this rather tough leg, and rode north with a powerful tailwind,
where they were
presumably picked up at our starting point and driven to our
destination.
Whenever I saw one of these easy-pedaling, north-bound folks whizz by,
I'd try to catch their eye, wave, smile, whatever, but no one ever
looked up. Not once. I think they felt guilty.
