No Sex #12

By the time NS12 came out in 1980 I was well entrenched in being a Captain in the army and stationed with my unit at Ft Knox, KY. This was after I had completed Armor Officer Advanced Training and that gave me time to work on my magazine and do a little artwork. This issue was 60 offset digest pages with a regular white cover. It was published by myself under the Heath Facts logo. The back cover was by Chad Draper and it could have been used as a front cover for this or some other issue.  He even had a logo design. Obviously since one of the reasons I published the magazine was to get my own art on the cover, my art usually won in the cover art contest.

Contents: The cover is by myself, David Heath and the back is by Chad Draper.

This issue features a wide variety of contributors. The cover does not feature a story from the issue but is actually a mild take on a couple of Bode poster pieces. The first story in the issue in Milk Run by C Robert Oliver, illustrated by myself. The review section is one of the last that was typed by my old typewriter that I never really liked. That is followed by he panel art story Together Again for the First Time. It is a story by Ben Thomas, penciled by Willie Peppers, inked and lettered by myself. It features the characters Weevil and Tavarius from the Steve Streeter fanzines (Paige Comics) and is one of the few team-ups that I printed, but since it was inked by me, how could I pass it up. C Robert Oliver had another short story in this issue, The Final Solution, then there was The Hives of Black Chandru by Mark McLaughlin, Loia 18 by Jerry Collins, Mr. Matter featuring Ken Meyer and Steve Streeter and Cheque and Mate by Jerry Collins.

David Heath, Lari Davidson, Jerry Collins, C Robert Oliver Jr., Robert Barger, John Howard, Chad Draper, Mark Heike, Ben Thomas, Willie Peppers, Mark McLaughlin, Ken Meyer Jr., Kim Wheat, Earl Geier, Dan Day, Larry Vitalo, Filthy McNasty, Brad Foster, Josephine Brainovich, Steve Streeter, Tony Casoria.

Notes:

I mentioned that this is was one of the last to feature my old typewriter. To be honest I never was able to achieve a strong consistent type presence in the magazine. This was a tribute to the fact that I was only interested in the art. If I was big time, I probably would have hired an editor to address the text issues. I found a typewriter in a thrift shop at Ft Knox and kept for some while. even after I finished using it for No Sex. It was retired to a thrift shop..in Ft Knox some years later.
