Knights of Columbus, Ponderosa Council #4928

 

1.  General Business Meeting:  January 7, 2003       

The Grand Knight called the General Business Meeting to Order at 7:00 pm

2.  Roll Call of Officers

 

Recorder conducted roll call of the Officers.

All Officers were present with the exception of 2 excused.

 

Financial Secretary:  Clyde Harshbarger

Treasurer:                  Joe Saiz

3.  Reading of the minutes from the last meeting.

 

The minutes for the prior meeting of December 3, 2002 were read and approved.

4.  Reading of Applications.

Two transfers:  Sotoro Esquerra Jr. and Richard M Frontino

Application for New Member:  Basil D. La Maestra 

Voted on Transfer and New member, Approved by all members.

5.  Grand Knight’s Report.

 

The Grand Knight’s Agenda Items were as Follows:

  1. Xmas party was a great success thanks to Carole Deisenroth and Debbie Galati. 
  2. We collected $157 from the Xmas party and because the wind was so bad we were unable to hang the keep Christ in Xmas poster so we received our $60 back.
  3. There are Fraternal Surveys being handed out, fill them out and return them at the end of the meeting.
  4. Thank you to Brother Joe Saiz for the American Flag he gave to the council.
  5. The Pancake breakfast is scheduled for 1/12/2003 after the 8:30 Mass.  Signups to help is upfront.  We have 10 people signed up which should be enough.  If you have griddles, pleas bring them.
  6. Marion hour of Prayer is in March.
  7. Support the Seminarian Tickets Sales.
  8. State convention is in Winnemucca this year.  We may have a dinner for our council following the convention.
  9. There are two second and third degree initiations scheduled.  One is in Fallon the second is at Immaculate Conception.
  10. We need a 1st degree team identified by 1/18/2003

6. Chaplains Report.

 

Holy father declared this the year of the rosary.  It would be good for us to look at the Knights Magazine, especially the article of peace.  It is certainly a way for us to follow being instruments of peace.  He suggests strongly reading the article.  Be conscious everyday of being Christ Like!

7.  Treasurer’s Report

 

None.

8.  Bills and Communications

Bills were presented for the Grand Night for $36.50 for the News Letter.

$184.50 for Father George and Father Arts Gifts.

$27.08 for Mark Foxwell

$19.74 for Seminary Fund.

$195.87 Todd Galati for Xmas party

 

 

Trustees approved payments of same.

One letter was received:

9.  Financial Secretary’s Report.

 

Quota met 7 new members   2 insurance, quota is 3

We Owe the State Council $217.00.

10.  Report of Committees.

·      Deputy Grand Knight – Paul Matteoni

 

Annual state convention is in Winnemucca.  As many people that can go from our council should attend.  There will be a Golf Tournament.  Reservations for accommodations at the Red Lion Inn should be made as soon as possible.  The dates are May 2, 3, and 4th.

 

Tailgate party:  Scheduled for January 25, 2003.  Tickets are $12.00 per person.  We will meet at the Wall for dinner.  Can Drop for scholarships will be at the game, so don’t forget your cans.

 

·      Youth – Thierry Barkley

 

Boy scouts are requesting January 31, for Pizza party.  Around 6:00 pm at Shy Simmons.

 

 

There is a membership drive scheduled for February 23rd.

Signups to speak at each mass will be upfront at the next meeting.

 

11.  Chancellors Report:  Thierry Barkley

 

Free throw contest is scheduled for 1/8/2003.  We need volunteers to help.  Signups will be upfront.

 

12.  Unfinished Business:  Grand Knight

 

Money Investment.  This will be discussed at the officers meeting.

13.  New Business

 

Italian Fest is scheduled for February 15th; there will be more to follow at the next meeting.

14.  Fourth Degree Report.

Dick Pendorf:

 

The Knights of Columbus is a family organization.  Xmas Party was a Dick Pendorf's house.

 

Brian - If you are eligible for the Fourth Degree you will receive a letter in the mail.

15.  Sickness and Distress

 

Brother Greg Fields friend told to have an abortion because baby would not survive she said no, had the baby the baby has passed away but the parents have a picture of the baby they would not have had if the abortion occurred.

 

Brother Chris Brockway and his wife

 

Brother Alan’s son has Cancer.

 

 

16.  For the Good of the Order

 

Our Worthy Grand Knight awarded Fr. Art Herkowski, Knight of the month.

Families of the Month were awarded to Steve and Carole Deisenroth and Todd and Debbie Galati.

 

17.  Closing Prayer.

 

Fr. Art Herkowski led us in closing prayer.

 

18.  The Grand Knight closed the meeting at 8:07 pm.
