"We're doing this more for ourselves and we're not expecting a lot." (Mike Sabatini, Restless and Wild)

Tribute to the Tributes!!!

It gives me great pleasure to present the first ever "Tribute to the Tributes" page! Everyone knows that the fans are the biggest reason for a band's success. But let's not forget that the fans also include the many bands that pay tribute to our favorite bands.

Although it is hard sometimes to find bands that pay tribute to Accept, they are out there! I would just like to say Thank You to these bands for not only playing Accept songs, but doing the songs justice and playing them well!!

1999-Auburn Records

Special thanks to Bill Peters- Auburn833@aol.com

The band is called "Breaker" and based out of Cleveland, Ohio. They've been around since the 80s, and I had never heard of them before, even though I lived in Ohio most of my life. Luckily a friend tipped me off, because I think the album is very good and I recommend it. This cover of the song Breaker is one of 6 songs on the album. The other 5 songs are original tracks. A re-issue of a 1987 album is due out early next year.

The website to the label: Auburn Records

NEW AGE MESSIAH- This band did a sweet version of "Balls to the Wall". My favorite part is the segment "C'mon man...........sign of victory" segment, mainly because of the echo effect.

TROUBLE- Their version of "Son of a Bitch" (performed 2/5/83 in Aurora, IL) was the first cover of an Accept song I had heard. Everytime I hear it, it feels like somebody is reaching into my stomach and twisting it... that's how strong this cover is! You'll hear why I rant and rave about it to my accept friends!

Restless and Wild- This Jersey based band really knew how to do Accept justice! The only true Accept tribute band I heard of. They did a great job of picking some of the hardest core Accept songs to play at their shows. A special thanks goes to drummer Mike Sabatini, who originally sent me a video compilation of some of the band's performances, a review, and a tour poster. Also he sent me a cassette of 3 songs. Click here 257K doc file (word pad) to see a flyer the band used. It has a band photo and lists the lineup. They played their last show in 1996.

Powerage- Down 'N' Dirty

Powerage- "Down 'N' Dirty" 1991 ZMP Records

A German band sounding, in my first listen, like a cross between 80s glam metal and the Bob Segar Silver Bullet Band. On this cd are 10 tracks including a cover of "Balls To The Wall." It's a nice cover. I like the additional lead guitar work acompying the opening riff, and the sound of the voice doing the Balls "chant".

Rage- Trapped! (1992, Noise International)

The cd overall I did not like at all. This contains a cover of Fast as a Shark, which is not so great.

Witchery- Fast as a Shark

The album it came off of is apparently called Witchburner. I don't know the year this was made.

Godgory- Princess of the Dawn

The guitars on this song are cool. The death metal-like vocals don't seem to match the song though :-)

Forte- "Division" 1994 Massacre Records

A California based band I'm assuming. This cd contains 11 very good power metal tracks, and an excellent cover of Fast As a Shark! Instead of the folk song at the beginning, they use 1920s swing dance music... cool!

1999 Nuclear Blast

When I first started this Tribute page, a cd like this was just in my dreams and the dreams of all the hardcore Accept fans. It's finally a reality and it's one outstanding cd in my opinion. Sure here and there may be some songs or parts of songs that we don't like on there... but overall I love it!!

Trax:

Balls to the Wall (Sinner), Head Over Heels (Hammerfall w/ Udo), Son of a Bitch (Tankard), Fast as a Shark (Steel Prophet), I'm a Rebel (Sodom), Breaker (Primal Fear), Shake Your Heads (Atrocity), Flash Rockin Man (Axxis), Starlight (Grave Digger), Monsterman (Seven Witches), The King (Therion), Generation Clash (Tarot), Burning (Metalium), Restless and Wild (Pegazus), Run If You Can (Watchtower), London Leatherboys (Ryker's), China Lady (New Eden), Fight It Back (Sacred Steel), Metal Heart (Dimmu Borgir)

Therion- "Crowning of Atlantis" Nuclear Blast 1999

I couldn't believe finding this just looking around in an Olathe, KS music store here in the US. The cover of Seawinds is on this album. Surprisingly no credit is given to Accept.

Any other bands that have done Accept/U.D.O. songs and wish to be added on here.... LET ME KNOW!!
