Live in Holland #1.... The Ultimate boot!!!

This is my only review (or whatever you want to call it) of an Accept album.....correction- It's not an Accept album, it's a bootleg!! However, what makes this special is that for all of the fans that have wanted rare tracks or b-side type stuff... well, here it is! The date for the concert is October 1980, yet there are Breaker (1981) songs on it. Confused like I was? Well, after listening to the cd, I formed an opinion that Accept sang Breaker album songs before they were ever recorded for the album. Most of them have different lyrics... and one song is almost completely different (an earlier version of Starlight called Take It Easy).

Sorry about the images above, and for this page layout (the main purpose is information, not making a pretty page)... I didn't want 2M images on here so I had to sacrifice the text. The one on the left is the front cover and says "Live in Holland #1".... the other lists the songs, incorrectly as: Lady Lou-Tired of Me-The King-Save Us-Do It-Take It Easy-Seawinds-Run If You Can-Take Him In My Heart-Free Me Now-I'm a Rebel-Breaker-Burning

Then the band members are listed followed by: "Recorded LIVE at the Dorpshuis Ruinerwold Holland the 25th of October 1980"

The song listings above are just for the first cd... there are 2 cds for the show. The correct song listing is:

disc #1

Lady Lou-Tired Of Me-The King-Save Us-That's Rock and Roll-Guitar Solo-Do It- Take it easy-Seawinds-Run If You Can-Take Him In My Heart-Free Me Now-Drum solo-I'm A Rebel-Breaker-Burning-second guitar solo

disc #2

Down and Out-China Lady-Thunder and Lightning

Overall using my "system" on the audio page... I'd rate this concert an 8. Much better quality than the other early-years shows I have an also the fact that it's a full length concert really makes this boot special....which is why I have chosen to do a sub-page on it. I'll comment on some of the album, but not the whole thing... I'm not trying to critique it, just trying to give you an idea what's on it. Some of us have the video boot that's out there from this time period... but you can't hardly hear or see anything. This boot is an Accept fan's dream come true in my opinion. I mean, finally getting to hear songs like Tired of Me, China Lady, Seawinds, and Thunder and Lightning live! I mean, what else can I say!!!

Tired of Me- My favorite song live!!!! Sounds almost as awesome as the studio, with a guitar solo almost double the length of the studio. That's what's so cool about the boot, is that if you're a big fan of some of the songs they never played in concert in their later years... well here finally are live versions!

The King and Seawinds- First of all, great to hear Seawinds live! Both of these sound more closely to the studio versions than the 93 concert version of The King (not to say that version isn't good).

guitar solo- It was good to hear something different! What was it... 3 or 4 years straight that Wolf played the exact same solo in concert? It's not spectacular, but like I said, cool to hear something different.

Take It Easy- As I said above, this is (in my opinion anyway) an earlier version of Starlight. Everything about it makes it a totally different song except the guitar solo and riffs around the solo are sounds we would later come to know and love from Starlight. But the rest of the song is totally different sounds and lyrics. There's a background singer (probably Peter) who goes super high pitched... at first I thought maybe they had King Diamond guest appearing on stage... HA! The same person returns later in the show singing the word "Burning".

Run If You Can- The music is the same... whats phukn' cool is the lyrics! One line will be a line used in the studio version and the next will be something else! A good example for instance is the chorus.... the studio goes "Run if you can, shake off the devil. Man don't you pay with your life. Run if you can, deadly and evil. He's hell on earth and he's alive." The chorus on this boot goes "Run if you can, don't choose the devil. Time has to pay for your life. Run if you can, his feats are evil-(i think that's what he's sayin' here... :-) No doubt about it, he's alive."

Take Him in My Heart- Sounds just as horrible as the studio! HAHA! All kidding aside, I've always had to give this song it's due simply 'cause it has my all-time favorite guitar solo. I'm not a guitar expert like those "Gimme tabs! Gimme tabs! Gimme tabs!" people, but I think that the solo in this version is done by Wolf and Jorg in unison.....I still like the studio guitar solo better!!

Drum solo- Stefan got asked one time in an interview why they never had drum solos in concerts, and he said that most of them sound the same and are boring.... and that only Cozy Powell (if i spelled the name wrong it's 'cause I don't know who he is) can pull it off. Well, I happen to love drum solos, my favorite being Randy Castillo's solo on "The Ultimate Ozzy" video. But Stefan does an excellent job here.... I wish they would have continued doing drum solos.

Breaker and Burning- Much like Run If You Can... same music, but different lyrics throughout. On Burning, Udo lets around 4 audience members sing "Burning, Burning, Burning just like fire"... which is too drawn out as always! HA!

Down and Out-probably the Breaker album song that gets changed the least.

China Lady- This is awesome!!! This is probably my favorite song on the boot outside of course Tired of Me.

Also one last thing I'd like to mention... don't try to get a copy of this if you don't like Accept's earlier albums! Makes scense doesn't it.
