Having survived a 4 year stint at a Southern Baptist University in North Carolina with a degree in Biology/Pre-Med, and a brief stint at the Medical COllege of Virginia, Matt was lured by the forces of Nature to accept a National Touring gig in She Loves Me, which transplanted him to NYC. 

After a few years in the City performing everywhere it seems - from Off-Broadway (45th Street Theatre, Promenade Theatre, and Carnegie Hall) to storefronts and Cabaret Clubs, Matt garnered more respect for his craft.  After a European Tour of West Side Story as Chino, he returned to find a place at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company's School at Steppenwolf in Chicago.

Arriving in the City of Angels with a clean slate, a year of classes and networking led to his first job on the last episode of Diagnosis Murder.
