Dad
My
dad's name is Qingjing Lin. He was born in Xiamen, China. My
grandfather was a carpenter. My dad's family was very poor when
he was young. My grandfather had ten children. But only six
of them survive. My dad has three elder brothers, one younger
brother and one younger sister. All three of his elder brothers
left China during the Chinese Civil War in the 1940s.
My
dad went to Peking
University to study Physics in 1953. He was the first one
in his family to attend college. After he graduated, he worked
at the Chinese
Academy of Science in Beijing as an engineer. He and his
colleagues designed the first computer for China. In 1987, my
dad went to work at SEG
Corporation at Shenzhen. He retired in 1994.
My
dad is a quiet person. He likes to practice Chinese calligraphy
and enjoys having Chinese chess games with his neighbors. He
also follows the NBA games closely. Michael Jordan is his favorite
basket ball player.
