Modified End Zone Drill

*Note: This is a modification of the classic end zone drill.  Gone are the indirect passes and indirect cuts and replaced with direct passes and give and go moves.  The two lines that were formed in the center of the field in the classic version of the drill, one up and one back, have both been moved to either side line and directly across from each other.  While it may not look the same on paper, it has the same side to side feel to it, symmetry and decent motion.

Requirements: at least 4 players (preferably 10) and one disc.

Instructions:

1)   Break your group into even sized halves and place each half in the endzone, one near each sideline.  The group with more players (if there is an odd number) starts with the disc, otherwise, it doesn't matter.

2)   The lead player in the line with the disc begins the drill about 5 yards in front of his line.

3)   This player throws a comeback give and go to his adjacent partner in the other line (cross field collapse).

4)   As the give and go play progresses, the initial thrower targets his move towards behind the disc (negative support) and away from the endzone.

5)  The second thrower throws a direct pass to the first cutter.

6)  From here, player A and Player B play a two man game for 3 more throws.  A throws to B, A continues further towards the sideline, B throws to A, A throws back to B, B fakes a throw to A, pivots 120 degree and gets square to the top player in the 'A' line and then back to step 3.  A now moves to the end of the 'B' line and B repeats the entire sequence with the front player on the 'A' line.

Things to remember

1)  Catch all your throws with both backhand throwing grips as much as possible.

2)  Don’t travel, achieve and then sustain balance directly over pivot foot

3)  Legitimize fakes with sustained eye contact

4)  Explode out of throws, the throw should be a bi-product of your cut instead of the cut coming as a consequence of your throw.

5)  Keep your average time the disc is in your hands at around 100 ms.
