Turning Premium Produce into Humanitarian Relief

Every penny received for our Fruits and Vegetables goes directly to Trauma Relief.  In 2006 and 2007, all money went to New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina relief.

Description

In the spring of 2006, we began a 100% volunteer run organization working together in the San Francisco bay area to grow and sell many different varieties of heirloom tomatoes to provide humanitarian relief.

The idea is simple. Sell produce at area Farmer's Markets and elsewhere and ear-mark 100% of the proceeds for Humanitarian Relief. Rather than being the rampant consumers that we've evolved to become over the years, at least we can provide some balance to the equation by becoming producers as well and in focusing on agriculture, aspire to have a carbon negative footprint.

To help defray costs of booths, packaging, supplies, scales, equipment, etc. and to help ensure that we're able to maintain our 100% Farmer's market proceeds to charity guarantee, we have a tomato plant sale each spring.  But we could always use more help so if you'd care to assist us, please donate.

We're expanding

The Bountiful Garden Foundation is going nationwide in 2009 and we hope to have at least 50 cities with BGF projects running in them.   If you're interested in participating, please send us an email.
