Backhand Throw
1) With your hips/shoulders/feet square, begin in the square stance as shown on the Skills and Drills page with the both hands gripping the disc.2) Start off by slightly twisting your hips and shoulders to the left. 3) Let go of the disc with your left hand and start to uncoil your hips and shoulders, keeping the disc flat (level with the ground). 4) Throw from your stomach straight out towards your target.
The Grip
The grip for the backhand lift puts an emphasis on putting upward pressure on the disc. Ring/pinkie fingers are folded over so their finger nails can press upwards. The tip of the middle finger is also pressed against the bottom surface of the disc to add more upward thrust. Index finger folded over the rim for direction and more upward thrust.
