The Great Independent Zaino Test

What about Dust?

After publishing the results of my test, I posted messages on the M5 board and the Funcarsonline Porsche Turbo Board. A friend also referenced it on The Viper Board.

Most of the commentary was appreciative and supportive. Of course, there are Zaino Zealots out there (and lots of them live on the Viper board!) Some of their criticism was unwarranted. For example, the guy who suggested I didn't follow the right steps, which I did, or the many, many people who defended Zaino based upon its longevity, which I did not test. In fact, you'll find the following statement in my test: "I also can't speak for longevity. I have a black car. It gets washed very often, so it gets waxed often. Longevity is not my concern."

But I can speak to the one other "defense" that was raised. Many people claim that Zaino is superior in repelling dust, reducing its adhesion, or both. I didn't test this initially. However, after hearing this point, I simply let the car gather dust for a couple of days. I did drive it, in case a little wind might blow the dust off the Zaino side. I then recreated my photo/lighting environment and shot the picture you see here. This is the same area, Meguiar's on the left, Zaino on the right. Sorry - I handeld the camera and it was a long exposure, so it is a little blurry. But I can't see a difference. Can you?
