Java supports recursion. What you see below is indeed a visual allegory for how the applet program is structured: it uses recursive calls with each container as reference to render those contained. Only the first object in each size-set is a container, and the total number of objects in the size-set equals the size level.
Can you think of cases in your work and everyday life wherein you would benefit from seeing a visual, animated representation of abstract concepts? How would you visually represent different levels of abstraction: object, class, metaclass? The possibilities are endless and few have begun to tap their potential, fewer still have done it well...
