The Beach Boys - M.I.A.

Inspiration IN2-0001

In 1981, after three years without an album release, and following the departures of both Brian and Dennis Wilson, the remaining three Beach Boys regrouped with their producers Bruce Johnston and Curt Becher and assembled the classic M.I.A. album with a little help from their two former bandmates. This 2-LP set proved that The Beach Boys were still a musical force twenty years after their first record was released.

M.I.A. was compiled by Carl Wilson from several different unreleased Beach Boys projects dating from 1975-1981. This collection of dreamy ballads and slower, more introspective material was widely hailed at the time as a return to form. For an extensive look into the story behind M.I.A., read Jimmy Sciarra's 1981 ZAP! magazine article, as well as his previously unpublished 1981 interview with Beach Boy Mike Love.
