About Coranan

Coranan is the capital city of the Thardic Republic. With a population of approximately 12,500, it is also the largest and most cosmopolitan settlement on Hârn.

The city is noted for its palaces, temples, and impressive government buildings. These architectural marvels are legacies of the Corani empire that once dominated western Hârn. Coranan's most impressive imperial buildings were topped with large cupolas of brilliant scarlet, earning the city the epithet The City of Red Domes. Of these scarlet-crested buildings, only the Palace of the Senate still stands.

Coranan is one of the most important economic centers in Hârn for both trade and craftly manufacturing. As noted in the Coranan article from the Cities of Hârn module:

[Coranan] is the western terminus of the main trade route with eastern Hârn and sits astride the road and river links to the cities of Aleath, Golotha, and Shiran. Salt and iron, the two most tradable products on Hârn are both mined nearby. The city exports locally manufactured brasswares, pottery, and textiles. Mercantylers dealing in a wide range of commodities are numerous and powerful and the city is a haven for guilds of all kinds. The bazaar and merchants' quarter are noted for their frenzied activity.

The city is also a major religious center, housing twelve temples dedicated to seven of Hârn's major gods. Coranan is also a main stopping-point for Halean pilgrims en route to Shiran and Ilviran pilgrims traveling to Araka-Kalai.
