East Point won 116 games in season1 and went to a 7 game series vs NL Champion Boston before edging out the DBL championship on the road. Game 7 featured Mike Thurman for East Point vs Al Leiter of Boston. Mike Thurman was able to contain the big Boston bats for a 2nd game in the series while outcasted Pedro Martinez watched from the bullpen. Thurman was 2-0 in the Championship Series and shared Series MVP honors with Javy Lopez who's 2-run HR in game 7 propelled the Elites to a 3-1 win and the Championship.
East Point decided to clean house for season 2 and bring in some fresh faces and more star appeal. Pedro was out and Nomar was in. Carlos Lee was drafted and had a stellar season as the left fielder. Miguel Batista made-due as closer and Mike Oquist assumed the role of staff ace. With not a lot of talent betwene the lines, East Point laughed their way to 86 wins and just missed a Wild Card postseason appearance by 2 games, nearly catching eventual DBL Champions in season2, Gold Coast.
Season3 was a nice rebounding year for a rebuilding team. Countless player moves and an excellent draft re-established East Point as a formidable foe. The Southeastern division has been recognized widely as one of if not THE most competetive divisions in all of DBL capturing the first 2 DBL Championships by East Point and Gold Coast. In season 3 East Point battled back to make a Wild Card appearance using mirrors and clutch hitting mostly from JD Drew. It was East Point vs Oakland for the SL Championship. Oakland overcame a 2-1 series deficit and won in extra innings in game 7 to reach the DBL Championship series and eventually bring a 3rd DBL crown to the South.
Season4 looked to be East Points most promising to date. Season1 nobody knew what to expect but by Season4, it isn't hard to know a solid team when you see it. The Elites traded their way up to grab Outfielder Ichiro Suzuki in the re-entry draft and solidified their team and validated their intentions to make a return to the big show. After a hot start, the rest of the South began leveling the playing field and a few more changes were needed. JD Drew disapointed big time and was sent off to Season3 NL Champs Miamisburg in a deal that brough Bernie Williams back to town. In a final hour trade deadline deal with Figueroa, the Elites were able to bring in starter Brad Radke to extend the depth of the Elites already tough rotation and add pressure to anyone else who had hopes of a trophy in 2002. Radke tossed two CG shutouts in his first 3 Elite starts and helped EPT cruise their way to a 17 game win streak which matches the 17 game EPT win streak from Season1 which are all-time DBL record streaks.
