Will of William ARNOLD of Halifax Co., VA
I William Arnold Senr. of the County of Halifax give to my son William one half tract of land on which I now live...also 5 negroes Peter, Hannah, Abram, Tom & Aggy...I lend unto Mary Arnold, widow of my deseased son (David) the other half of my land and two negroes Amy & Jery during her natural life then divide between my son David's children to wit: Keziah, Carter, David & William. It is my desire that my land I purchased of James ARNOLD containing two hundred & twelve acres be sold and money arising to pay my debts. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth two negroes Sammay & Peggy...to my daughter Anna a negro man Sam and 1st child of negro girl called Dinahy. I lend to my daughter Anna the negro girl Dinah provided she will take into her ? & ? my grandson Amariah W GRIGGS until he shall be 21 years old. I give to my grandson Amariah W. GRIGGS one negro Dinah, except her 1st child...I give to my daughter Bethea two negroes Sillah & Jack. I lend unto Skerm Osborne during his life two negroes Josse & Phillis and at his death equally divided amonst the children of my daughter Patty, now desceased, namely John Osborn, Polly Osborne, Edward Osborne and Fanny Osborne. I appoint my trusty friend William TERRY and my son William ARNOLD executors of my last will and testament. Witness my hand this 30 April 1801.

At a court held for Halifax Co. 27 July 1801, the herein written will was proved. William ARNOLD asked for probate with George Hamblin, Skearm Osborne & Joseph Allen his securities entered into bond in penalty of $2,000. William TERRY refused the burden of execution.
