Kit - FamilyTree DNA sample kit number; Lives - DNA donor lives here; Ancestor - where oldest known ancestor lived and when; Name - name of living sample donor with current spelling of the surname. Note: The data above have been copied from the public FamilyTree DNA project page. Dashes indicate loci that have not been analyzed, or in the case of the lives and ancestor fields, is not public.

*Hap - is the haplogroup to which the sequence belongs by prediction of FamilyTree DNA (gray/black text) or by SNP testing at FamilyTree DNA (red text). Green text is the haplogroup predicted by the Haplogroup Predictor Ver 1.15 written by Whit Athey. The Haplogroup Predictor program only tries to fit the sequence to the following subset of haplogroups: E3a, E3b, G, I1a, I1b, I1c, J2, N, R1a, R1b. The current haplogroup tree of known human Y-chromosomes is here. The mutations that define haplogroups are generally considered to be unique events in the distant past, older than mutations at the loci in the table above. Sequences belonging to different haplogroups are not closely related.

Interpretation

So far, all participants appear to be in the R1b haplogroup.

If you do see gray shaded rows in the table above, the gray shaded rows are visual aids to indicate biological boundaries that separate individuals by haplogroup. Individuals in the same haplogroup are more closely related to each other than they are to persons in other haplogroups despite the spelling of surnames and known country of ancestral origin.

Inman families

R1b

Looking at the gold shaded results in the table above, these families are part of an extended family group. A parsimonious look at this group suggests that the families with kits 23322 and 117955 may share a more recent common ancestor who had 14 at DYS 389-1 compared to the other families when the most recent common ancestor for the entire group is further back in time.

R1b

These two families as represented an extended family group, and so far, this group has low variation in DNA sequence.
