Jenny Lin Friendship Court

The Friendship Court is situated on a site on the southwest side of the Canyon Middle School campus directly adjacent to the music department. It is a location that students have used for years to gather after school or after music rehearsals to socialize and wait for the their parents to pick them up. Jenny herself used this site many times after school. The site originally was not very safe, however. In keeping with the Foundation’s mission to protect children and support projects in Jenny’s name, family and friends began a local beautification project. With the support of the Castro Valley School Board and numerous volunteers, a plan designed by architect Li-zheng Fu was approved and work began in early 2001. The Friendship Court was dedicated on May 26, 2001.
The plan of the Friendship Court includes a circular open space with a granite plaque at the center. Surrounding the circle are granite benches where students can sit. The paved and well-lit area provides a much prettier, cleaner, and safer place for students to gather.
