History:
Jim Michener, K9JM, was first licensed in 1965 under the call sign of WN2SMD, in Rochester, NY. Upon upgrading to a General Class License in 1966, his call sign changed to WB2SMD. In early 1968, Jim upgraded to an Amateur Extra. While at the Univ of Illinois, Jim also had the call of WB9SHB (yuck). In early 1977, all the old call signs were traded in for K9JM.
