Just what is PEST? Anyway??
Essentially, PEST is for those packet ops who are interested in practical, usable enhancements for the amateur packet radio network, and who find pride in being part of a unique global RF digital network created, maintained, and operated by amateur radio operators around the world. If you see the ham digital RF net as amateur radio's greatest achievement to date, and want to see it continue to grow and develop, you have great potential to be a PEST.. Consider making it official!
The theory here is that the real fun in packet radio is not in being a user of the network, but in being a participant. Hams who make some contribution to the network find that this provides a great feeling of pride and accomplishment, making packet radio a much more rewarding and enjoyable experience. The type or level of participation is not so important as the fact that it's there. - Hams who become more involved have more fun. - That's how it works.
In the packet radio community, it pays for like-minded hams to pool thier resources and approach thier goals in an organized fashion. PEST is intended as an anchor for those who choose to direct thier efforts toward the advancement and growth of the global amateur packet radio network, with special emphasis on simple, practical innovations which can be implemented on a global ( net-wide ) basis.
If this sounds right for you, pester N5PVL.
