A film noir shot in the broad daylight of sleepy San Francisco in the late fifties. Memorable lines are spoken in staccato spurts.
The movie really gets going when the ruthlessly professional drug smugglers enter, brilliantly played by Eli Wallach, Robert Keith and Vaughn Taylor. Wallach, who's "hooked on 'H' as in hate"... is the incredibly slimey hitman known as Dancer.
He maintains a thick veneer of slime that wrinkles even the most cynical of hard noses among the underworld types he colludes, and collides with.
"You're dead!"

Nightmare Alley is one of the great noir films - don't miss it. The drama begins in a carnival side show, and keeps your interest every step of the way.

An overlooked gem with Lugosi playing the sinister practitioner of black arts, Roxor.
