| The planning had been going on for some time, but we put it in high gear in July after visiting with Ray and Carolyn. We each mentioned the three or so things that we would really like to do. I made some notes, then when I got back home I started looking on the internet and planning. We kept in touch via email. |
| Ray and Carolyn came from Texas later in July and we looked on the internet to find airline tickets. We settled on a flight leaving DFW on September 10, 2002, going to Houston then on to Amsterdam. I really got busy searching the internet for places to stay based on the things we wanted to do and see in Europe. Ray & Carolyn had been to Europe several times and Lynda and I had been twice, so this time we wanted to take a more leisurely trip. |
|
| But the places we wanted to visit covered quite a distance--from Bristol and the Cotswolds in the UK to Pompeei in Italy with many points in between. We realized that we would not be able to see everything so would have to be some days that would just be travel days to get us to our next point. |
| Based on our reading, we chose to lease a diesel vehicle for use on the continent. For the shorter period of time that we would be in Great Britian, we would have to rent a vehicle. In 1980 we had leased a vehicle on the continent and taken it to Great Britian, but this time we wanted a British car while in Britian. |

![]() Four Eager Travelers | Our airline tickets were delivered and we had passports, so now it was a matter of deciding on some places to stay. And then to make reservations. By the time we left on our excrusion, we had reservations for most of the trip. |
| Now, we were down to the packing and deciding what items to take and what to leave behind. |
